The “Delete” checkbox at the bottom is a powerful tool that should be handled with
care. Depending on your situation (putting or getting files), it will delete whatever
files it finds on one side that are not on another. For example, let’s pretend you are
“getting” the newest files off of the remote server. You have an empty “images”
folder on your local side, which is not on the remote side. Dreamweaver will delete
this “images” folder on your local side.
Check-in / Check-out
Once you have connected and synchronized, you will notice that the Site window
may look slightly different. Files will have little "locks" next to them.
To “check out” and edit a file, simply double-click it. A green check-mark will appear
next to it to denote its checked-out status.
When you're done working on a file, you need to "check" it back "in" to the server.
To do this, you'll need to click the "Check In" button in the toolbar.
Collaborating With Templates
The combined knowledge of templates and collaboration in Dreamweaver MX 2004
can create a very powerful web-designing environment. Using the collaborating
features in this program, you can work with other people using the same files, while
at the same time, working within the same templates. This allows for a high level of
consistency and security in your web pages.
